The Only Way Is Uxbridge for TOWIE star Joey Essex
Shopping centre Intu Uxbridge is calling on students to take part in a unique evening of discount shopping and entertainment, hosted by The Only Way Is Essex star, Joey Essex.
The reality TV favourite will be the star attraction at the popular annual Student Lock-in event when it returns on 14th October. As well as an appearance from the TOWIE cast member, students will be able to enjoy live entertainment, hundreds of giveaways and huge discounts from more than 35 of the centre’s retailers, including H&M, Topshop and River Island.
Discussing the booking, intu marketing coordinator Rhianne Boopsingh said: “We thought Joey was a celebrity figure which people want to see and he’s very current.”
Taking place from 7:30pm to 9:30pm, students will also have the chance to take part in the “locked-in” competition in which customers that spend over £40 will be offered a code to try to win top prizes including laptops and Beatz headphones.
On the popularity of the event, marketing manager at intu Uxbridge, Donna Watson, said: “Every year our Student Lock-in gets bigger and better, and this year is set to be no different. We have fantastic retailers offering exclusive discounts as well as a range of entertainment planned throughout the entire evening.”
The student shopping event was set up by the Cardiff-based student marketing company Total Students, and since the very first event in Cardiff in 2010, there have been a further 40 events held over 20 venues across the country. The record success of these events has even led to the company receiving the most coveted marketing award in the shopping industry at The BCSC Purple Apple Awards 2011.
